Megaman Legends 3 Prototype Will Determine Fate of Game

According to Capcom, the small downloadable title will be the benchmark to see whether the full game gets released or not. Capcom has made it quite clear from the start that they are unsure whether to continue development for the third official installment (if you don’t count the Tron Bonne spin-off) of the Megaman Legends series.

To determine whether the game is worthy or not, they are instead releasing a small “prototype” demo version of the game on the 3DS’s eShop system to test the waters:

“the heat and excitement surrounding this downloadable title would determine whether or not the full game could be green-lit. If hype is strong, the full title will be a go. If not, it’s a no-go.”

In other words, they’re trying to benchmark hype via sales. It almost screams marketing gimmick and if they’re not careful with the pricing, this may become one of the most retarded tests ever.
