AMD FX Series Box Art

Remember back in the early 2000s when AMD introduced the FX series? If so, this news will bring back some memories for you. However, the FX branding will stand alone this time around. There wont be any attached name with it such as Phenom or Athlon. In addition, AMD is making a push with an eight core model processor and increased instructions per clock-cycle.

AMD’s new processors are currently code named Zambezi and it is based on the Bulldozer architecture. These new processors are also expected to roll in sometime in June. Without further ado, you can check out the box art below:

In order from left to right you will notice an eight core black edition, another eight core black edition variant, a quad core black edition, and finally another black edition quad core model. However, it is important to note that this is not the final line of processors from AMD. There most likely will be dual core models and other variants as well.

Update:

X-bit labs managed to get a hold of AMD’s Road map, which outlines each products placement and how they plan to compete with Intel.
