This also comes in the wake of the abysmal sales on their download-only PSPGo which is bogged down not only by a higher price point than the original disc-based PSP, but more expensive downloadable games as well.

Mr. Hirai also has bandwidth concerns for certain markets:

“We do business in parts of the world where network infrastructure isn’t as robust as one would hope,”

A valid statement indeed given the size of most Blu-ray based games. It would be an interesting month downloading a 30GB file in areas with absurdly small bandwidth caps.
