Microsoft Extends Windows XP Downgrade to 2020

The nine-year-old operating system is still chugging along. Despite recent gains of Microsoft’s Windows 7 operating system, according to a Microsoft executive, 74% of all business PCs are still running Windows XP. Reasons for this phenomenon can stem from continued heavy reliance on old software to financial problems that inhibit proper tech infrastructure upgrades to plain old-fashioned laziness.

The downgrade will only be available for purchases of pre-loaded OEM models however. Considering Microsoft is planning to kill off XP support in 2014 period, it seems unlikely that most users will find a use for the downgrade.

C’mon folks, it’s time to move on.
