Korean WOW Players get Starcraft 2 for free

Korean gamers with an active WOW account can look forward to playing Starcraft 2 for free. Wait a minute now, this means that the gamer would need to maintain their WOW account and keep their monthly subscription in order to continue playing Starcraft 2. Once the gamer cancels their subscription they can’t plat Starcraft 2 for free anymore. Apparently this is Blizzard’s tactic for trying to get more WOW subscriptions in the area. Considering that Starcraft is treated like a national sport over there, it just might work.

At a recent StarCraft II event in Seoul, Blizzard announced that any Korean gamers with an active World of Warcraft subscription will be able to play StarCraft II, free of charge. The deal lasts as long as the World of Warcraft account is active, and is a very smart move on the part of Blizzard to drive the popularity of WoW in the region. Blizzard’s Chris Sigaty described the announcement as “a way of giving something back to such a supportive and skilled community of players.”
