Don Mattrick is no longer the head guy behind the Xbox One console. Mattrick left on his own terms to become the CEO of Zynga, the creators of FarmVille. In a statement to Zynga employees, he optimistically stated that “Zynga is a great business that has yet to realize its full potential.” Furthermore, a Zynga board member weighed in with the following:
Don Mattrick joining Zynga as its CEO is a spectacular coup for the company, its shareholders and for Mark. There is not another executive in the world who could bring as much experience, knowledge and success in the gaming space,
Back over at Microsoft, instead of hiring someone else, Microsoft CEO, Steve Ballmer, has taken Mattrick’s place. Here is the following statement, which was sent out to Microsoft’s employees
Don’s directs will report to me and will continue to drive the day-to-day business as a team, particularly focused on shipping Xbox One this holiday.

So we have a guy who since taking over Microsoft has let the company lose market share in almost every market running a division about a market he knows jack all about. What could possibly go wrong?
