What better way to encourage more PC gamers to start playing on Linux? Starting right now and ending February 21st, all available Linux games on Steam will be 50% to 75% off. Some great titles include Bastion ($3.74), Trine 2 ($3.64), Amnesia ($5) and Faster Than Light ($5) along with the usual Valve staples of Counterstrike: Source ($5) and Team Fortress 2 (free).
Happy Linux gaming!

Awesome, although I am on the Windows bandwagon, I would really like to see Linux gaming really start to pick up.
This is a smart move by valve indeed.
Also: “Through the end of the month, play the Free-To- Play Team Fortress 2 on Linux and get a free Tux item in-game.”
Oh dear, thousands of people are now going to install Ubuntu just for the TF2 items lol.
ROFL! indeed they will! 😛 Good thing steam, unlike the bastard publishers, allows playing across platforms, so when I do end up gaming on linux, I won’t need to buy everything all over again.
Yeah I can also expect many kids breaking their bootloader or breaking their partitions trying to install an OS like they would any other program lol.
Also note that the Steam client has officially been released now. https://apps.ubuntu.com/cat/applications/steam/
It’s not hard to break your bootloader with linux really. It’s a shame that you need to go through all that trouble to get linux and windows in one bootloader (and you definitely need grub cause the windows one doesn’t even want to bother with ubuntu lol)
Yeah it’s usually because Ubuntu uses EFI boot, but Windows 7 and earlier do not. I had this problem a few times and in the end I always end up disabling EFI boot before installing Ubuntu. This works for me all the time.
I’m not sure if it is needed for Windows 8 or not though.
EDIT: It has begun lol. http://www.reddit.com/r/linux_gaming/comments/18jyq5/if_i_wanted_to_say_install_linux_just_to_use_it/
Finally got around to trying ubuntu, been wanting to for a while so I finally had a good excuse. Hopefully the support builds up so I have more reason to use it.
