At 17GB, I’m starting to feel inclined to get the retail version instead of Steam; that’s going to be one looooooong download.

Ouch, that is a bit of a download for an AC game, but on a lighter note, the minimum requirements aren’t bad at all :).
Yeah if it runs at those. I remember the issues with the other AC games. Is this going to release at the same time as the console version or what?
There is a month delay for the PC version, so well will get it in November. Yes, it would be nice to get it at the same time, but IMO, a month of waiting isn’t too bad.
A month isn’t too bad indeed. I’ll most likely get it on the ps3 since I have all the others on it (except for ac1). Could play it on the xbox and wait to buy the pc version too. Will depend on my mood at the time and my pocket.
