Most of you have probably seen it by now. However, in case for some weird reason you haven’t:
Now then, as many of you can see, the Call of Duty franchise is taking its logical next step in shooters: future warfare. Battlefield did it with 2142, so why not Activision’s flagship series? Drones, walking mechs, unmanned aircraft, and eventually a floating battle cruiser of some sort. Expect it.
Like its predecessors, the game is just as cinematic as ever, but it does however feel a bit clunky, or blocky. Perhaps a new engine rewrite should be in order soon?
Assuming they still have the ability.
An engine rewrite is indeed in order. It’s the year 2009 already! In the long run people will start thinking they just want to milk the COD name without putting much effort into it and keep making COD games till 2012 with the same engine and the same terrible audio.
The setting is a lot more interesting at least. Although Black ops had the worst campaign ever, never even bothered with MW3’s.
I am not really much of an online gamer at all, I hate how multiplayer is often the main focus of development.
so i see a dab of ghost in the shell
a lot of deus ex, and rise of the machine (i mean look the designs are the same)
and some metal gear 4 in what it is going to be a failure of a story line
and really horses REALLY? that sures gonna protect you from a 30mm shell and the odd missile
Of course it will… You just need the $20 horse armor DLC :).
of course, stupid me

Horse armor 😛
LMAO! 😀
I think they’re aiming to do some cool things with the the story that you don’t really see in shooters. Branching plots, some binary options on how you handle situations, and the Strike Force missions. It really seems like Treyarch want to make this their own series, so I wish them luck. It also sounds like they’ve done some work on the graphics, but my issue is of course the gameplay. Modern shooters just feel so scripted and like you’re not doing anything besides watching events happen. There’s nothing wrong with being heavily scripted, Bioshock 1 did a great job of it, but the kicker is Bioshock 1 didn’t feel like it was scripted. It felt like you were playing and had choices and could do things. The openness of the world helped a lot, of course.
Same Engine … the originality is long gone.
As much as I have grown to hate the CoD franchise, I’d be lying if I said this doesn’t look interesting. The engine may be dated but it still looks impressive. However, with most iterations in their franchise, I’m sure looks will in fact be deceiving.
