We may see the XBOX 720 at this years E3 after all. The processor is code named “OBAN” and it will be based on 32nm fabrication process. Ten thousand of these new processors will be manufactured for Microsoft’s developer kits.
The CPU is based off of IBM while the on-die GPU will most likely be an based off of AMD’s latest architecture Southern Islands/Graphics Core Next (GCN). These chips will reach developers sometime in March. Hopefully, this will give developers a chance to make a few demos or at the very least allow Microsoft to give their own technical demonstration in order to show off their new system.

For Developer kits = 1-2+ year away from releasing.
Yeah, 1-2 years is about right. Some are speculating a release in Spring 2013. But, we may still get some type of tech demo (similar to, but hopefully better than the Wii U) from Microsoft at this years E3.
Oban eh?
Good to see Scotland getting a positive mention…

Hide the whiskey inside the consoles
hide the whiskey inside boxes that’s shaped like consoles.
Third Xbox is likely to come out in midst 2014, so E3 2013 is the nearest occasion we can hear anything official from MS.
