The year 2014 is important to Nvidia as they claim it marks the time in which PC games sales will surpass console game sales. During a conference call Nvidia decided to release various slides with information related to PC gaming. As you can see above 2014 will be the tipping point for game sales on the PC platform. Furthermore, Nvidia also took it upon themselves to graph how much more powerful GPUs have gotten over the years compared to their console counter parts.
Their next graph shows how digital distribution has and will continue to outpace retail for PC gaming.

A pc is practically a console without the hardware limitation bullshit. Only valve seems to have realized so far unfortunately. oh well. lol
wasnt it the same when the last gen of consoles was at its peak
The image tag seems to be case sensitive so you can’t use
. The img in both tags needs to be lower case “img”. Apologies for that, I am not sure why the mod is like that, but I fixed it for you ;).
Nvidia isn’t involved in any next gen console so I think they’re a tad bit biased here.
Well, hardware wise the PS3 has the RSX based on a toned down 7900GT. Given how powerful a GTX 580 is in comparison the console graph is correct in regards to raw horse power. However, if they don’t have a deal for the next generation I see why they would release something like this.
I think the sales are is a bit confusing as the data is hard to keep track of unless they have access to steam sales or something like that heh. So, yeah they could very well be a tad biased in that regard.
what determines the future for me is the direction where games will go
As many have said, those speculations are probably very biased coming from Nvidia, but I don’t completely disagree with them either. I believe that the PC game sales will surpass console game sales, but I would guess by approximately 2020. The next generation of consoles will most likely be out by 2014, and I would think that that would prevent PC games from surpassing them. My prediction is that PC game sales will beat out console game sales after the next generation, though.
