Major Nelson has some interesting news regarding Xbox Live and Windows 8. Yep, those rumors that stated Windows 8 will have Xbox Live functionality are true. Nelson states that you will be able to play your Xbox Live games, watch your movies, and more. However, it is still unclear if the service will entail a monthly fee and if this means we will actually be able to play Xbox games or just some Xbox arcade titles. In regards to charging a monthly fee I am sure some of you sill remember how Games for Windows Live gold turned out.
We are confirming that we will be bringing Xbox LIVE to the PC with Xbox LIVE on Windows. We are very excited about Xbox LIVE coming to Windows 8. Xbox LIVE brings your games, music, movies, and TV shows to your favorite Microsoft and Windows devices. Bringing Xbox LIVE to Windows 8 is part of our vision to bring you all the entertainment you want, shared with the people you care about, made easy. At BUILD we are showing that it is easy for developers to create games for Windows 8 that take advantage of the power of Xbox LIVE. We have much more detail to share about the capabilities of Xbox LIVE on Windows and look forward to the opportunity to do so in the near future.

does this mean i can have my own xbox live account for free? (if i have windows 8, a legit copy of win8) ?
and chat with my xbox buddies?
This “feature” is probably for gold members only lol.
and karambiatos. they probably just integrated the zune marketplace into the os itself instead of having a stand alone program and etc
I don’t really care about paying the $40-50 a year for xbox live since the espn3 is worth that price anyways imo. especially during college football and basketball season… the split screen feature is awesome lol.
and no, having 2 windows open on espn3.com connected to my tv isn’t the same thing. i’ved used smartphone remote controllers and etc, it’s a pain in the ass to navigate…
Will that horrible smartphone style interface be optional?
“Xbox LIVE brings your games, music, movies, and TV”
because we couldnt do any of these things before right?
i do really hope M$ learned their lesson from GFWL and dont put in a subscription fee
il stick with windows 7 for now, the whole tabletized windows 8 does not attract me for 1 bit
see i downloaded windows 8 to give it a go but not had chance to yet
I agree with Sefiris. I’m content with my Windows 7 and have no desire to make the switch to Windows 8 yet. Having Xbox Live on the PC is of no interest to me unless it is for free.
