If true, that would be far earlier than most would have anticipated. According to DigiTimes, sources within Foxconn and Pegatron have reported that PS4 production will begin at the end of 2011 with an expected 20 million unit launch for 2012. The next console will also feature motion-sensing technology that is similar to Microsoft’s Kinect.
We’ll keep you posted.

Hmm, it makes sense, the source is somewhat reliable, but you never know. Considering the price tag of the PS Vita, I am not too worried about the price tag for the upcoming console.
oO I thought they’d go for 2014. Well I’ll believe it when I see it. And motion sensing???
Wow… nintendo sets the trend, then moves away from it, sony and ms jump in head first -_-
I can understand the jump for 2012 rather than 2014. For the most part, developers main complaint is with the consoles’ limited memory. Since we have the WiiU announcement, the PS4 announcement for 2012 is even more likely.
I agree with XMACHINE9000…the announcement of the WiiU is probably putting pressure on Sony and Microsoft to start making their new console intentions known. As of now I have no interest in the upcoming Sony console, but only time will tell if it proves to be impressive enough to change my mind.
