The iCEnhancer mod aims to improve the graphics of GTA IV. From the looks of the video they have definitely succeeded in that regard.
In addition, version 1.25, which brings even more advanced effects is expected to release sometime soon. You can download the mod at gta4-mods.com. Furthermore the uploader of the video claims to be running it on a Core i7 @ 2.97GHz and an AMD HD 5750.
a realistic sun effect?
BLASPHEMY
and those specular maps on the cars look like raytracing almost
Wow so beautiful. Although GTAIV won’t run on my PC at all as it is. 😀
Either because My CPU is slow, it’s a god awful port or both.
That is gorgeous…
night time was amazing
That looks great. And if what the guy says about his specs, then it’s most likely that the game is CPU dependant, more than gpu. lol
^well it is a console port and a pretty bad one at that
It’s not really that bad of a port. GTAIV gets bitched at for poor optimization due to how CPU heavy the game is. People simply aren’t used to games being CPU heavy these days. Graphically GTAIV isn’t terribly impressive and people have gown to think that graphics equal everything when it comes to performance and GTAIV bucks that trend, majorly. The RAGE engine itself is CPU heavy and add to that the very CPU intensive Euphoria and it’s a recipe for a game that uses way more CPU power than GPU (it’s not exactly light on the GPU either using some memory intensive effects). People called Crysis the same thing due to it not performing the best at release (Crysis is very shader heavy and will take anything you throw at it GPU wise and give it a work out. Multi-GPU support is lacking though).
PC gamers were warned multiple times prior to GTAIV’s release that Euphoria was not a lightweight engine and Rockstar even did some tweaking to it beyond the console version.
I don’t think there’s a good reason for this game to be so CPU intensive other than some bad porting otherwise it wouldn’t run on a 360 as it does.
Wow…that looks phenomenal! I don’t think my PC would be able to run it, but I definitely have to give it a shot.
