The Four Layers of Activision

While the other 5 layers may have been lost in the transition, activation’s structure remains intact. The four new layers start with the Call of Duty Franchise, moves onto the Tony Hawk and Guitar Hero franchise, adds room for the other licensed properties, and finally ends with Blizzard.

A report on has word that Activision Blizzard “has shuffled its senior management team and realigned its internal structure without telling investors or the public,” saying about 15 employees were laid off as part of the reorganization. They cite information from internal memos revealing Activision Blizzard has divided itself into four units, one focused on the Call of Duty series, another for company-owned titles like the Guitar Hero and Tony Hawk series, a third for licensed properties, while Blizzard Entertainment remains an independent unit.
