Call of Duty goes vertical, and hopefully, far less linear. Okay, so calling it a Call of Duty may seem a bit weird despite Jason West and Vince Zampella helming the title, but you have to admit, it does look like a future version of Call of Duty. It’s also been a while since I’ve seen this level of anticipation for an upcoming fast-paced FPS, the last two being Call of Duty 4 and Battlefield 3.
Aside from the mechs or “Titans” giving that Hawken/Mechwarrior feel, the vertical orientation of the game somehow feels fresh after staying stagnant on “heavy” soldiers that are severely limited by gravity. The chaotic speed of the game (familiar for all Call of Duty players) combined with the vertical nature seems to give more of an Unreal Tournament vibe and less of say, Crysis or Halo.
Looking forward to playing this on… oh right, Origin. Crap.
