So…. Flash is coming to TV. I’m not sure how I feel about this. Flash will be making an appearance on CW’s Arrow, a super hero television show. CW hopes to introduce Flash into the Arrow universe, give an origins story and finally start a spin-off series. Here are Mark Pedowitz’s words, CW’s President, at a recent press conference:
“We plan to introduce a recurring character [on Arrow] and an origin story for Dr. Barry Allen, who you know as The Flash.”
“We’ll see how it goes. Hopefully it will go well. We do want to expand upon the DC universe. We think that there are rich characters that we can use and we thought this was a very organic way to get there.”
This is also big news for fans of the show because prior to the introduction of Flash; There have been no super-powered heroes. Adding the flash opens the door to expand on this and eventually usher in different characters.
Like I said before, I’m not sure about this move. The Flash? DC Heroes, besides Batman and maybe a few others, just aren’t as interesting of super heroes as Marvel’s Characters. I would watch a Thor TV, or a Spider-man TV show
starring Toby Maguire . I don’t think I would want to watch the Flash. Granted, I don’t know a whole lot about Flash besides him running fast and starting Tornadoes. I’m just not sure how you would create an origins story for flash and make it interesting and entertaining. We saw Man of Steel try, and the pacing of that movie was extremely unsettling. I’m skeptical of the show’s potential success because the margin of error is extremely high! Especially when it comes to super hero shows.
