According to sweclockers.com, Nvidia has began development on a cut down GTX Titan GPU. While this could indicate that perhaps the Titan itself is priced too high at around $900USD, this is also likely to just be a way of handling cards that weren’t up to standard. So, in order to get rid of some of the GPUs laying around they will tone them down a bit and sell them at a reduced price to make up some of the manufacturing costs.
So, what can we expect out of this reduced Titan? Well, the rumors point to a GPU utilizing the same GK110 core with 2496 CUDA cores, a 320-bit interface, and 5 GB of GDDR5 memory. More details are unknown at this point in time, but the card is expected to arrive sometime this summer in either July or August.
Yeah, $1000 is way too much for a single GPU they should have priced the titan at $600 and released another card with less memory with the same or slightly lower amount of stream processors for $400-450. Come on AMD get out some new GPUs!
