Amazon Stops Selling SimCity Digitally

Amazon is putting EA’s SimCity on hold until online connectivity issues are fixed. This only applies to the Digital copy as you can still purchase the retail copy on Amazon.

Many customers are having issues connecting to the “SimCity” servers. EA is actively working to resolve these issues, but at this time we do not know when the issue will be fixed. Please visit https://help.ea.com/en/simcity/simcity for more information.

When the game launch there were reports of long activation times and general connection issues. as a result an EA community manager stated that they do plan to add more servers to ease the load.

What we are doing is deploying more servers over the coming two days which will alleviate many of the ongoing issues. We are also paying close attention to all the bug reports we are receiving from our fans. We’ve already pushed several updates in the last few days. Our live ops team is working 24/7 to resolve issues and ensure that bug fixes roll into the game as quickly as possible.

If you didn’t already know this whole controversy is centered around EA’s decision to include online only DRM with SimCity. Furthermore, metacritic is reflecting gamer’s dissatisfaction over these issues with a 1.7 user review score.
