Yes, Windows apps could run on your android phone or tablet in the future. The software is still in early development, but the folks over at phoronix.com managed to get in on a presentation by Alexandre Julliard, one of the original developers behind the Linux WINE project.
Again, since this project is in the early stages of development what was displayed was buggy and reportedly slow. The demo Julliard was running was actually on a Macbook Air running Linux. Of course since it is coming to android devices this does mean that WINE is also supporting ARM processors.
This presentation took place at FOSDEM (Free and Open source Software Developers’ European Meeting) in Brussels, Belgium. Unfortunately, that’s all we have to go on right now; it’s in the works and hopefully WINE for Android will see the light of day soon enough.
