Glasses-free is that way to go and with Vizio’s new TV it may just be 3D done right. This new TV may not become available for consumers in the near future, but it does present an interesting take on the glasses-free 3D experience. Instead of having a camera track your head, there are “zones” or certain angles that the TV will display the 3D effect. If you happen to look at the TV while out of the “zones” (off of the predefined angles), then you will just see a normal, undistorted, 2D picture.
Now all we need is an OLED UHD (4K) 3D glasses-free anti-glare TV and we are set.
Nice. Does it still give you the stroke of laying eyes on 3d? I always get a headache trying to understand what I’m seeing when watching 3d personally…
It may give you less of a headache considering the glasses may amplify any issue you have with 3D. I also get a bit of headache, but the only way to know if this is any better in that department is to try it yourself. So, when these hit store shelves it may be beneficial to check out a display model first. From what I can gather from the video, it should be a much more enjoyable and less annoying experience considering there are no glasses required and there isn’t head tracking involved.
I get the said headache from the 3ds too. I stopped bothering with 3d movies and all that jazz due to it and the inevitable weird picture quality.
Now this is what I have been waiting for! I never wanted to waste my money on the 3D TV gimmick because it’s silly to have to wear goggles to see in 3D. Since the 3DS needed no glasses, I figured it was only a matter of time before that would be done with TVs. Once that gets integrated with OLED TVs, I will invest in one to upgrade my system. Until then, my current LCD TV is just fine.
