Considering PC gamers don’t play games on their couch perhaps they can count themselves out of the Halo franchise. Okay, they didn’t exactly play the Alan Wake game with PC gamers this time around, but their comments towards their own platform are still rather interesting.
Halo 4 was designed specifically for Xbox 360, and while we’re always exploring new ways to expand the franchise and share the Halo experience with as many fans as possible, we do not currently have any plans to port Halo 4 to PC
So, Halo 4 was not design for the PC? Alright, I think I need to stand on a PC gaming soap box for a bit here. Did they forget that they released both Halo 1 and Halo 2 for the PC? Well to be fair the first Halo was awesome, but then they decided to throw in Halo 2 as a Vista exclusive and then tie it in with a monthly payment from Games for Windows Live Gold, but hey let’s look past that for a second. Fact of the matter is there are two Halo games on the PC and one of them did really well.
Considering Windows 8 has just been released and Microsoft is planning on taking on the market with their own built in app store what gives? Do they honestly think they can seriously take on the likes of downloadable markets such as Steam, Impulse, Origin, etc with out any exclusive titles or ground up support? The only advantage I see here is that it’s tied into the operating system this time, so it’s not like you had an option to install it; Microsoft’s store is just there.
Yes, there are some PC gamers that don’t care about Halo, but there are still some, including myself, who would like to see the franchise hit on the PC once again. Of course MS should probably release the game in a less controlling fashion compared to how Halo 2 was released though.
Again, the key here is Windows. Microsoft owns the OS and with Windows 8 they want to play a larger role in not just the average user, but gamers as well. To me this move just doesn’t make sense and it shows that Microsoft is once again ignoring PC gamers for the time being. Basicially, I still can’t take Microsoft and their store seriously in the PC gaming market as long as they say odd things like “Halo 4 was designed specifically for Xbox 360”.

Not a loss for pc gamers. Major loss for MS, as it’s always been. They could release all their 360 exclusives as Windows Store exclusives and make money out of them (for the right price for older games obviously). But nooooo because pc gamers are pirates, unlike xbox gamers (who get to play games months before release due to piracy :P)
crazy talk, you and your crazy talk can leave, cuz its all crazy, people never buy games on PC, FACT! People never pirate on consoles, FACT!
(just in case, thats all sarcasm)
I’m not a fan of the Halo series at all, but it seems stupid to not release it on PC – even if it’s just a few months down the line.
