Steam Unveils “Greenlight Concepts”

Created for those developers that don’t want to pay the $100 but still want to gauge interest. Which isn’t a bad idea if some hidden indie developer had a great concept but is living on canned beans to survive.

The only downside being that games cannot be Greenlighted via the concepts, they still have to pay the $100 fee to do so:

This section is intended for items looking to gather feedback from the potential customers and begin building a community. If you like projects here, feel free to rate them, favorite them, and leave feedback for the developer. The voting here serves only to give the developer data and reactions and doesn’t work toward getting the game distributed on Steam.

There’s only a handful of concepts as of launch, many with artwork ranging from pencil drawings to what looks like scribbles in MS Paint, but hey, have to start somewhere right?
