Sony and Panasonic Team Up to Manufacture Next Gen. OLED Panels

This Dynamic Duo emerges to take on LG and Samsung. The two companies plan to work together in order to mass produce OLED panels by 2013. Sony and Panasonic plan to use a printing manufacturing technique that deviates from the traditional method of producing displays. Not only do they want to produce large screen TVs (in which LG and Samsung are also pursuing), but they also are interested in developing flexible displays for smartphones akin to the demonstrations we have seen at previous technology trade shows. OLEDs are a superior technology when compared to LCD or LED LCD displays in that they have 1uS response times, better contrast, better viewing angles, better color reproduction, thinner, can be flexible, and can also be more energy efficient.
