Tony Stark is back in his suit of “iron” and the billionaire is geared up and ready to entertain us once again.
Good
CG: The special effects were simply amazing. You can tell that a lot of time was spent in this area. One of the fight scenes with War Machine in it had a huge amount of bullets flying and explosions everywhere. There was a lot of attention to detail. The animations were fluid and it made you believe Robert Downey Jr. was in the iron man suit.
Jokes: This isn’t a comedy by any means, but there are some one liners that make you chuckle a little bit in a similar fashion to the first movie. In the first movie, Tony Stark passes by Stan Lee and calls him Hugh Hefner. Let’s just say that something along those lines happens again.
Babes: Tony Stark is a womanizer that meets all sorts of women throughout his various expos, parties, etc. One woman that was full of awesomeness was Natalie Rushman, who is played by Scarlett Johansson. She seemingly flirts with Tony and the audience the whole way through and then she kicks a lot of ass.
Mickey Rourke: Mickey Rourke played an awesome villain. He makes you believe that he is solely hell bent on killing Tony Stark. His whips are also pretty damn shocking when they first hit the scene. When he first starts to hack and slash at everything you just can’t help but think “DAMN!” in your mind.
The Avengers: This time the whole Shield involvement with the Avengers is much more apparent. Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Clark Gregg who plays Agent Coulson from shield in the first movie make a return as well. Also, there is a very brief scene where Tony Stark uses a dilapidated Captain America shield to prop something up.
The Ending: Well, I can’t say much here, but there was something awesome at the end of the credits, just like in the first Iron man movie.
Bad
Lt. Col. James ‘Rhodey’ Rhodes Switch: Most people out there like continuity and when movie goers found out that Terrence Howard was being replaced with Don Cheadle it was a bit shocking. Don’t get me wrong Don Cheadle plays an excellent Rhodes, but it just felt a bit out of place the first time you see him. About half way through the whole switch becomes a bit more tolerable. Now don’t switch again please!
Credit music: Yeah, you have to sit through that stuff to get to the “secret” ending. The first song was okay, but one of the songs that played made me wish I took a bathroom break.
Conclusion
If you’re an action fan go see it! If you’re a comic book fan definitely go see it! Iron man 2 is a downright awsome action packed masterpiece of epic proportions. It’s everything you would expect from the trailers and then more. Also, don’t forget that more comic book movies are on the way. A Thor movie, Captain America movie, and an Avengers movie is suppose to be underway. If it’s anything like Iron man 2 then we are all in for a real treat.
