Surprised? Well no, not really at this point. Like Battlefield 3 and Mass Effect 3, Maxis’s latest city building game will also require an internet connection that’s hooked to an Origin account. Also like its two EA brethren, you’ll be able to download the game at multiple digital distribution services, though I have a feeling they’ll be skipping one certain platform again.
Perhaps more disappointing for some PC gamers will be the lack of mod support at launch. While Maxis has stated they won’t destroy the idea completely, the game will most definitely not have the feature at release in 2013. If you want a good reason why, just look at the microtransaction store and the many expansions they released for The Sims 3.

WHAT? When they announced it they fucking said the engine is designed to be highly moddable? So they mean they get to make mods, and charge us all of course.
Yeah, it sucks, they have been doing that with the Sims 3 as well. So, yeah, EA and Activison do have somethings in common when charging for content ;).
Here is the article saying how they know SimCity 4 is so popular because of the mods, so they made this engine to be moddable http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/03/08/simcity-is-built-to-be-moddable-say-maxis/
ಠ_ಠ Seriously?
that sucks about the mods 🙁
welp i know what im never going to buy
That sucks, but I’m still going to get the game. I don’t bother with expansions (at least for any Sims related titles). Hopefully they will have mod support at a later date. In my opinion, the game is still going to be awesome and worth the purchase.
Hopefully the online will offset the bullcrap of no-mod and tons-of-dlc 😛
That is rather disappointing, but regardless the game still looks great. This is definitely not enough reason to pass it up.
