Robert Bowling Leaves Activision and Infinity Ward

Robert Bowling aka fourzerotwo has left the Call of Duty factory. In a statement that perhaps shocked many Call of Duty fans, Robert Bowling officially resigned as Creative Strategist of the game.

Today, I resign from my position as Creative Strategist of Call of Duty, as a lead of Infinity Ward, and as an employee of Activision.

To some individuals this is quite shocking considering how he kept everyone up-to-date with what they were doing with the game in addition to providing the community with a lot of feedback. So what’s next for the well known player in the Call of Duty industry? In another recent tweet by Robert Bowling, he states that he wanted to get in touch with none other than Respawn entertainment’s Vince Zampella in the following message:

@SgtPayback @VinceZampella Drop me a message if you jump on, lets get some private matches going.

So, perhaps Respawn entertainment will be Robert Bowling next move, but why did he leave IW in the first place? Some gamers believe it is due to recent DLC comments, in which he seemed feed up with Activision’s DLC plans for the franchise.

…since our DLC model is so different, I feel like we have a flexibility to let DLC be focused on all new content, brand new stuff you’ve never seen before in the game or any game.

And if we want to do a throwback map, let that be outside the DLC model, let it be free, let it be to everyone. Don’t let it be restricted by contracts and partnerships and all that f*cking money stuff. Let it just be there.

So that’s what I think.

In addition, You can check out Activision’s official response to Robert Bowling’s departure below:

We sincerely thank Robert for his many years of service. He’s been a trusted and valued member of the Infinity Ward team. We wish him all the best on his decision to pursue future opportunities.
