There’s a new video floating around the web which has a different theory for the apparently horrid ending from Mass Effect 3. Before we start, it’s time to review our Mass Effect vocabulary. An indoctrination is basically when a reaper takes over your body and mind, while you believe that you are still in control of your body via a dream. So, without spoiling anything, this basically means some part of the ending could have been Shepard in a dream. Alright, now that we have that out of the way be warned that the video below contains major spoilers for those that haven’t beaten the game.
Perhaps Mass Effect 3’s Ending Was a Dream?

I was fine with the ending. Fits in with the entire theme of mass effect 3 (or at least i thought so)

I am just going off of the poll on Bioware’s forum with that statement in the news post. See: this post.
I edited this post with a link to try and better reflect where those words are coming from. Either way, if you like the ending that’s fine. No problems here :P.
I mean… if you see where mass effect series was kind of coming from (humans being one of the second species of the galaxy, reapers saying that sentient beings can’t understand the cycle, the entire mass effect 3 story line about the reapers and the part before the ending,) it kind of makes sense to finish the game with a sense that there’s still no meaning to whatever you did.
fits mass effect?
WHAT?
they forgot the entire lore in the last 10 seconds and then used space magic, yep fits it perfectly
I didn’t notice any problems with the lore :/
although plot holes like how the crew got back on the damn normandy people will never know.
and pretty much gamers are complaining they’re not the author. if they want their own ending, make a game themselves. it’s like reading harry potter and said that the ending sucked (which it did) and demanded the author to rewrite the ending.
just because you didnt notice any, doesnt mean they werent there
Uhhhh, so yeah shepard presses one button, everything is fuc^&#$. He presses button number 2, everything is $#%#@^ again but in a freaky human-machine mix magic way… Even so, it gives you NO sign whatsoever about what happens to your damn friends, except for a specific 3, who just happened to appear for a second.
Also it hardly made sense for those 3 since 1 of them was with me through the last mission. I’d expect her to come along for the ride and not magically move to the Normandy and off to some other planet. Also wtf is the normandy doing going through freakin relays??? They were fighting reapers in orbit a second ago and then they went close to pluto and off to god knows where? Oh and why does organic-machine Joker have vrolik’s btw? lol
And the third ending… the only one that might be good… you take control of the reapers… AND GROUND THE WHOLE GALAXY IS THE SOL SYSTEM WITH NO FOOD, TECHNOLOGY OR MEANS TO GET OUT!!!!!!
So obviously…
1. You lose.
2. You lose less badly.
3. You lose less badly.
What the hell kind of endings are those???
And not to mention how these endings don’t add up at all to the rest of ME. Seriously now? You went through all the ME1 trouble to prevent the signal from going out in order to find the Reaper overlord chilling in the citadel?
And wtf, any answers about the reapers? They are order to chaos that we might cause by creating synthetics? Wtf is this???? oO
Just… le sigh.
Oh, 42000 people say the endings sucked.
AND ONE MORE THING. You don’t end 150 hours of someone’s time with 10 minutes of video… You put an AWESOME ending.
I created an account here jsut to share my opinionon this video to which I strongly disagree lol. Here it is anyway:

Yeah, it’s up to interpretation. I’m not sure if the theory from that video in the news post was actually correct it just seemed like an interesting theory. Either way thanks for taking the time to dissect it more in depth to counter it.
What if all of mass effect 2 and 3 were a dream of shep when he lays dying after falling from orbit in the opening scene of me 2.
