So, were the rumored specs even close to what was announced? The answer is yes, the new iPad will actually sport a whopping 2048 x 1536 9.7″ retina display. That’s roughly 3.1 million pixels packed into the device. In terms of processing power, the iPad 3 is still going the dual core route for its CPU with a revised Apple A5 processor called the Apple A5X CPU.
On the other hand, the PowerVR GPU is now a quad core, and Apple claims that the processing power of their new product is “four time faster than [Nvidia’s] Tegra 3.” Additionally, there is speculation that the RAM also has received a boost from 512MB to 1GB (still unconfirmed).
Lastly, there is a rear facing camera 5MP camera and the iPad 3 is also capable of recording 1080p video. Storage capacities will remain the same with 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB models with or without 4G LTE, and will have a similar 10 hour battery life when compared to the iPad 2.

Damn, that’s one hell of a screen for a tablet :D.
That sounds very impressive, especially the screen retina display. If it can run the same programs as OS X Lion, and a keyboard and mouse can be used, I will probably take the plunge and get it. I would use it to mess around and to play games like League of Legends when I’m not home 😆
