Alan Wake PC: Requirements and Release Date

The game that PC gamers thought was lost in its own story manages to shine a light on the requirements. Fortunately, it looks like it wont be that bad at all, but keep in mind that these are the minimum requirements not the recommended.

One concern seems to be Windows XP support. As it stands, the developers want to release the game on XP service pack 2 and above, but some bugs are holding them pack. Remedy has stated that they will have more details after the game’s testing process is over and done with.

OS: Windows Vista or Windows 7 (see below for Windows XP)
PROCESSOR: A dual core processor is required:

AMD: Athlon X2 2.8GHz
Intel: Core 2 Duo 2GHz

MEMORY: 2 GB
HARD DRIVE: 8 GB
VIDEO CARD: DirectX 10 compatible or later with 512MB RAM

AMD: ATI Radeon 3650, 4450, 5550, 6450 or higher (per series)
NVIDIA: GeForce 8600GT, 9500GT, GT120, GT430, GT520 (per series)

SOUND CARD: DirectX 9.0c compatible
INPUT: Mouse and keyboard, Xbox360 controller also supported

The game will also take up about 7.5GB of hard drive space. But, wait, what are the recommended specs? Unfortunately, Remedy has not released that information, but they stated the following in their FAQ:

For a solid performance Remedy recommends a modern quad-core CPU and a graphics card with around 2000 in 3DMark Graphics Score as seen in here: http://community.futuremark.com/hardware/gpu

For max settings and high resolutions, a top of the line graphics card and CPU is needed.

A GPU with around 2000 points makes the recommended fall around an HD 4870 according to the chart on futuremark. Furthermore, the devs also state that there wont be a demo for the game. However, you can look forward to its release this February on Steam. If you want to know more you can check out their full FAQ at alanwake.com
