That’s right folks, your entire library down the drain. Well this is an interesting development. Apparently a few modded servers have begun to pop up on Battlefield 3 Beta’s battlelog with some supporting up to 128 players. EA however, clearly unhappy about this, has threatened to terminate any player that plays on such a server, even if unknowingly:
We are aware that a number of servers have appeared and are running game mods and player counts that have not currently been seen. Please try to remain on official servers.
Official servers run the following configuration:
Max Players: 32
Map: Operation Metro
Mode: RUSHPlease avoid temptation and remain on those official servers while we work to have these servers dealt with. Playing on those servers can cause your account to become compromised, stats to be altered or other issues to arise which may lead to having your account banned by EA.
If your account gets banned it does mean any EA game you have on your account would also be unavailable.
Considering that the topic is currently buried and the servers are appearing on the battlelog itself, it would make many players vunerable.
C’mon EA, it’s bad enough that we’re putting up with Origin and your silly browser-based attempt at social networking, but threatening to disable our Origin accounts? That’s just cruel.

Valve also reserves the right to ban entire Steam accounts, it’s buried somewhere in the TOS. At least EA is upfront about it and hopefully their good CS will be willing to work with people that did it without knowing. I assume the people putting up the modded servers will find their accounts banned though.
I can understand EA being unhappy with mods that alter stats, but aside from that, I don’t know what the problem is. Also, I hope this policy only applies to the beta testing (since I believe they didn’t have Punk Buster running)…if they don’t allow for mods when the final game is released, that is going to make for a very angry community.
