Oh Fox News, what other humorous news pieces can your writers come up with?
Alternative energy and flowers? really? I wonder what they would think if they found out that I tend to call in alien spaceships to destroy my city every time I play SimCity 4.

Oo what the fuck are these people smoking? A liberal agenda??? Oo What’s wrong with letting kids know what happens at industrial level meat production? What’s wrong with letting them know that there are areas of the world where you actually pay for the pollution you cause with your power production and garbage disposal etc etc (EU)?
Seriously, the retardation of people who get to speak and influence millions is so absurd…
Kinda off topic but:
As for nuclear energy being the safest and cleanest, it still produces a lot of heat pollution (cooling is usually done using fresh water from a nearby source) and radiation pollution (depending on how the radioactive materials are disposed of as well as minor amounts in the water used for cooling).
It’s much better than a fossil fuel plant of course but let’s not try to make saints out of it or compare it to actual eco-friendly power production.
There’s one thing that’s going to be eco-friendly and nuclear at the same time and that’s fusion. Won’t be here for another 50 years at least though.
Don’t nuclear plants use a closed loop water system? It’s not like they’re radiating water & spitting it back out into the lakes, rivers, & people’s faucets.
well, problem is the TENS OF THOUSANDS OF YEARS that we need to store the nuclear rods AFTER they leave that closed loop water system lol. (currently, most of it sits in tanks that’s built to stay intact for i think 1000-5000 years in the back lot of power plants lol
They do release it in regular intervals arak. It’s not like it’s full of radiation. The levels in it are minor. The biggest polution produced is the heat. You can’t have a closed loop system cooling a reactor. Well you do have a closed loop but it includes the source of the water ;P
Anyway I doubt they are built somewhere with water used for drinking or even national parks etc.
And you’re correct killer.
correction. by tens of thousands, i meant hundreds of thousands.
Looks surreal. That’s almost the same level of ridiculousness as Onion News, but they were not joking. Can’t believe someone watches such a channel.
Nuclear power is indeed one of the safest. And I live in Kiev which is 90 kilometers from Chernobyl. Most of Ukraine is powered by nuclear plants all over the country including the biggest one in Europe in Enerhodar producing 6 GW and hydroelectricity.
I mean if you don’t build a plant in seismic active zone (Japan) or decide to do some an irregular test, which leads to a catastrophe (Chernobyl).
I don’t think heat pollution is that big to be considered as any impact comparing to carbon pollution.
Green energy is also has it’s problems, because you have to consume energy to create not very effective power generating tools.
But it is a way to go. And I was surprised when I read that wind mills produce more than 200 GW already. When nuclear power produces a bit more than 300 GW. And wind mill power generation industry grows 40 GW/y at current rate. China leads here with 25% of wind generated power.
But I think people forget even more deadly threat of fossil fuels – wars and political instability that leads to millions of deaths and casualties each year. That’s one of the main reasons I’m pro alternative energy. And I include nuclear power as one of solutions.
Storing rods for 500 years is not a problem. If you look at technological advancement curve you’ll understand why. Not to mention we will face technological singularity within this century.
Like PsiAmp said, this is like something straight from The Onion. It’s full of contradictions and nonsense. The man says how it teaches children the “liberal agenda” and uses “scare tactics” and “guilt.” The amount of stupidity coming out of the radio host’s mouth is too painful to stomach.
