overheat much?
Everything always sounds awesome when you hear the marketing pitch.
Let’s wait and see what the actual hardware turns out to be, and the pricetag before getting excited.
I’m not sure what they mean by not having any mobile gaming laptops….I’ve been using my M11X with great success for over a year now.
Specs have already been announced:
i7 2640m at 2.8GHz
8GB DDR3 1333
17.3″ LED display at 1080p
Geforce GT 555M with 2GB GDDR5 (really Razer? Really?)
Webcam
60Wh UNREPLACEABLE/integrated battery
320GB 7200RPM HDD (seems really damn low)
B/G/N wireless
All packed into a very Apple-esque aluminium case.
All of this for only $2800
And they have the gall to call this thing the first true gaming laptop?
Razer, go fuck yourself.
Woah, that’s expensive. Thanks for the details though. I’ll update the post with them.
Yep, that right there is a big negative.
they should have went with ATi instead of nvidia or both even so we have a choice
and 555 has the same power of a 460GTX? or something like that,
also 1333 mhZ? meh id rather have 6 or even 4 GB of 1600 or higher
Considering I could get something of similar specs for 1000 euros, just without the gimmicks, I’d say no to this.
also
it has 1x USB 3.0
and 2x USB 2.0
all i can do is facepalm, my carppy laptop from 4 years ago has 4 usbs and thats not enough.
I think Razer paid someone at Kotaku money to spout shit about this thing. I’ll avoid epic ranting, but just go read the utter bullshit in Kotaku’s article about the Blade.
$2800 for real?
Before you guys go on… Let me remind you a little something.
Unlike us, there are people out there who buy Macs. Razer obviously saw that there is a market for such an overpriced-yet-sleek-looking-laptop. They’re just exploiting it.
We just have to live with it… -_-
Razer isn’t marketing this at the Apple crowd, they’re marketing it at PC gamers. This is being sold as a gaming system, not some fancy lifestyle product like Apple sells. Apple’s market will want nothing to do with it.
^ Yep, but some stuck up “I HATE MACS CAUSE I’M A PRO GAMER” wannabes…. will totally love how “K3WL” it looks.
But that is a very tiny market. With as much as Razer is pushing this it seems like they expect it to hit off. They’re going to be sorely disappointed. Hell I can get the most expensive Alienware laptop for $2000, a full $800 less than this thing. It has a quad core compared to the Blade’s dual core, a 560m, the same or better battery life, same hard drive. The only trade off at that price are half as much RAM (4GB is fine though), weight, and looks (though I do like the look of M18x personally). Oh and it doesn’t have that silly gimmicky touch screen which is what jacks this cost up. Razer should’ve put at least a 560m in it if not a high end AMD mobile GPU or the 580m. Hell toss 3D as well. Something to make it appear like the cost is worthwhile. It does look good, but I’m betting a lot of corners were cut to keep it from turning the case into a ball of fire.
i think razer is thinking about people who want to get into gaming, but building a new system is too complicated for them, what they fail to realize is that everyone who doesnt know about PCs has a friend that knows a lot about them, and they can ask them to build them a PC, or ask on one of the many forums on the internet
It would be nice to have a gaming laptop, but that is way too expensive. Gaming will shift from desktops to laptops, but not for a long time.
