GameStop May Develop a Gaming Tablet

GameStop has plans to make a tablet soon after they purchased Impulse and a cloud computing company. They are pretty clear this device will be used for gaming. However, it is up in the air at this point if they will use impulse or some sort of cloud computing for the device at this time. Impulse has already established itself as a great content delivery system and one could imagine that it would make a great mobile app store. What are your thoughts Gamestop President Tony Bartel?

If we can work with our partners and the OEMs and they come up with a great tablet that is enabled with a great gaming experience and coupled with a bluetooth controller, then there’s no need to go out and develop our own. But if we can’t find one that’s great for gaming, then we will create our own.

It would make sense for GameStop to find an OEM to develop a tablet for them, but they are pretty clear they will take on the challenge of creating a tablet themselves if nothing meets their expectations.
