Another Foxconn Employee Commits Suicide

A total of thirteen employees have committed suicide over at Foxconn.

A female employee of Foxconn Electronics’ (Hon Hai Precision Industry’s) Shenzhen plant fell to her death on August 4 despite the company having already taken many steps to try to prevent such tragedies from happening.

Foxconn pointed out that the company will assist the employee’s family for funeral affairs and will cooperate with local police with their investigation.

Furthermore, they are now looking to hire “mature” employees. Meaning that potential employees will have to pass an exam to ensure they are mentally stable.

The suicide issues have also affected Foxconn’s hiring process in China as Foxconn’s Wuhan plant is requiring its applicants to have mature mental state and is offering exams for testing. The plant is expected to hire 15,000 employees by the end of 2010, according to a Chinese-language Shandong Business Daily report.
